Miscellaneous

During my wanderings around the Web I occasionally come across some sites of interest. I like to share them with the world so here goes.

I found, of all things, a place to buy LUMBER online.

Need a POOL SAFETY FENCE?

Looking for a good deal on a CONCRETE PUMP? (If you haven't guessed I'm adding a swimming pool to my back yard.

Need a SHOWER FIXTURE to rinse off after a dip in the pool?

How about an OUTDOORS GAZEBO? No cost is being spared on this pool.

What's a new pool without a place to sit PATIO TABLES

Whatever you need, the Internet will provide. Surf the web!

Last Call for Spring Landscaping

Last Call for Spring Landscaping

Summertime and the livin’ is easy. This is the season when a man’s fancy turns to crabgrass, weeds and trimming shrubs. Yeah, not so much. The last day of frost is now behind most of the country so now is the time to get started working on your lawn and your landscaping. By now you know the drill. Get behind early, and spend the rest of the summer playing catch up.

In the north it is last call to apply “pre-emergent” weed killers to your lawn. This is the only way to prevent crabgrass and other annoying weeds from dominating your landscaping in August. Be careful. Read the label or instructions. Pre-emergent chemicals prevent seeds from germinating. New grass seed and this type of weed control do not mix.

The same rules apply to “Weed and Feed” type fertilizer. They should never be applied to a new lawn until you have mowed it at least 3 times.
This is also your last chance to plant new shrubs and bushes. You want them to be in the ground for a few months before they have to endure the brunt of the summer heat. Be sure to keep these plants watered and do not ever let them dry out. Their roots are fragile for the first year or so.

The best place to start is with an honest evaluation of what your landscaping needs to be improved and then to set priorities. Don’t delay, the early planting season is about over if you miss this window of opportunity you may be out of luck

Beds

Nothing is more important than a good night’s sleep. But that’s where the trouble begins. I’m soft while my spouse is firm. And don’t even get me started on the different colors and styles of bed spreads and pillows. Thank goodness we discovered the value of the internet when it comes to buying beds and bedding.

One of the advantages of shopping online is you can get some really outstanding decorating ideas. They are free and tons of sites offer pictures and suggestions that can keep you from making a big mistake. This will also equip you before you finally make that first visit to the Mattress Store.

From antique bed frames to wicker bedroom furniture, the best place to shop is on the internet. The variety and selection of products is stunning, but considering you spend a third of your life in bed, it should be expected. Online you can find designer dog beds and bunk beds for dolls. Need and old fashion Murphy bed or a cheap futon, browsing online may be the answer.
